Yellow submarine

Vappuaattona grillikauden avajaiset, vaahtokarkkeja ja viiniä. Hämärtyvä ilta kesän korvalla. Rastaiden vihellys sattuu korviin. Istumme ulkona niin kauan, kuin tarkenemme. Sisällä teetä ja juustotarjotin, annamme yön kuljettaa tarinoita ja haaveita. 

On Labour Day's eve (or do you prefer May Day or 1st of May?) we open the barbeque season for this summer with a bunch of friends, marshmellows and wine. Night moves in slowly, thrush singing hurts ears. We sit outside until we reach freezing point. Inside we continue with cheese and tea. The night gently floats our hopes and dreams.

Vappupäivänä otamme keltaisen sukellusveneemme, starttaamme kirkkaaseen ja keltaiseen päivään keskelle ihmisten iloista merta. Kaikki hymyilevät kilpaa auringon kanssa. Poimimme kyytiin pari eilisillasta selvinnyttä ystäväämme ja suunnistamme munkeille väljemmille vesille, rennommille vappumarkkinoille. 

 
On Labour Day we start our yellow submarine and head towards the shiny and yellow day. The sea of people shines along with the sun. Everybody is happy. We pick up a couple of friends who survived through last night and cruise to have a may day doughnut (or two) in a loose, cheer atmosphere. It is good to have an alternative may day fair.

Otamme osaa jenkkiautojen vappuletkaan ja hämmästelemme sekä autojen että ihmisten paljoutta. Kulkueesta tulee yli kilometrin mittainen. Ihmisiä tungeksii kaupungin täydeltä ja tämä kaikki on vielä vähän verrattuna Helsingin sykkeeseen. Herätämme hilpeyttä ja nautimme huomiosta. Autot ovat toinen toistaan kauniimpia ja minä valokuvaan mitä huvittaa. 

We take part in american car parade and are amazed by the amount of both cars and people. The parade grows to be more than a mile long. People are gathered all over the city to see us and we enjoy the attention. I try to imagine the crowds in Helsinki. The cars compete which one is the most beautiful and I take photos of whatever I like.
